Last year I happened to be in New York the day Tal Farlow died. I sat in a hotel room listening to the DJ play his records. What a revelation! I begged out of an invitation to dinner and continued to listen. Most of the tracks came from out-of-print vinyl sides, since little of Tal’s music had been converted to CD. This guitarist had one of the gentlest touches I have ever heard, yet his speed and sense of swing was amazing. There are a few Farlow discs to be found on Concord, Verve and Blue Note labels. I hope more releases will follow this tribute recording. Of the six guitarist heard, Gene Bertoncini and Mundell Lowe were contemporaries of Farlow, and the others draw much from his style. Five tracks feature a single guitarist, six are duets and “Fascinating Rhythm” finds a four-guitar summit. Vibraphonist Joe Locke joins the celebration on three tracks, in honor of Farlow's early work with the Red Norvo Trio. Each guitarist, an accomplished leader in their own right, bows to the Farlow sound for a tribute worthy of the late swingman.

Track List:With The Wind And Rain In Her Hair; Move; Isn’t It Romantic; Fascinating Rhythm; Miss You Tal; Talology: Autumn In New York; Gibson Bay; I Remember You; Meteor; The More I See You; My Romance.
